What does it mean to "throw like a girl"?
This ad takes a standard that all women are taught. A stereo-type. It is amazing that Always decided to show the public the difference.

Brava. Brava.

Thinking back to my childhood I always felt like I was a little bit less. I was supposed to meet a nice husband, get married, have kids, live in a nice house, and start working towards my retirement. Seeing this gave me a little perspective. If these young girls have the confidence to run, throw, and fight like a girl, then why can't I?

We can all take a not from these young ladies and not let the standards kick us down.

I can't wait to see this ad on Super Bowl Sunday and see how my male counter parts will react.

So let's all start fighting like a girl.

Easter // 4.20 Recap

So everyone knows.
My mom knows, my dad, my teachers, my friends.

I'm a major believer in medical marijuana.
I also partake.

Naturally I had to celebrate the stoner holiday 4.20.
Which just so happen fell on the Sunday of Easter.

So basically my Easter was filled with sunshine, music, food, and cannabis.

Easter egg hunt at the Moreno house
I LOVE coming from Latin heritage. It allows me to break confetti eggs on relatives and I can break a pinata every single holiday. I got the pleasure last Sunday to spend time with my love (Man standing next to me in picture above) and help my little cousin search for eggs.

So the whole thing with the confetti eggs, also know as Cascarones; it's Mexican tradition. Easter is by far one of my favorite holidays because of these dangerous things. It makes a mess, but it's major fun. Not to mention they're awesome for some family revenge.

I also brought a surprise for the little ones who are finally getting old enough to understand the joys of smashing a pinata.

My cousins Stella and Eli
Nothing is more priceless than seeing the face of a child when they smash a burro to pieces and colorful pieces of candy fall from the sky.

First beautiful day in Minnesota

LOVE this picture
All in all Easter with the family was amazing and I always look forward to the next year.

I could never forget about how excited I'm going to be for 4.20 to come around next year.

Now you know one of my secrets.
And on that note I'll sign off.

xoxo

Festival Living

It's Spring time.
You know what that means.

SUMMER is almost here.

If you're like me and stuck in Minnesota, Summer can't come soon enough!

So we all know that music festivals mean that there will be plenty of people showcasing their style. Every year new patterns and new styles get introduced. So I thought I would put together a little guide.

All you really need to know that you need to be comfortable. You don't want to be the one constantly pulling and tucking your clothes. Find something that works for you.

  1. Comfortable shorts. Summer means legs. Show them off. Personally I'm one to choose shorts of the high-wasted variety.
  2. Crop tops. Showing off a sliver of skin when wearing high wasted shorts is sexy!
  3. Sun hat. Something to help protect your scalp and face from dangerous disgusting UV rays.
  4. Stylish sunglasses. A little more extra protection for your eyes.
  5. Fanny pack. Otherwise known as a bum bag. Easy to carry around and easy to keep track of your precious necessities (chapstick, money, ID, etc.)
  6. Comfortable dark shoes. Something dark will hide the grossess that you will probably end up stepping in.
  7. A long cardigan. Something to keep you warm after it gets dark. Some festivals (Like ones in Minnesota) end up getting cold after the sun goes down.
  8. Last but not least- WATER. H2O to keep you hydrated and going. You should be drinking more than eight glasses a day if you're planning on being outside and dancing all day. Find a refillable water bottle that works best for you!
Comfort Zone Cardi  from Nasty Gal
Most of all though, when you're at a festival

HAVE FUN!

Whether you're headed to Bonnaroo or Summerset you should always find yourself prepared.

The City of Lights

I just got home from New York this week. I know that it's odd for this to be my first post, but going to New York has opened my eyes completely.

I know those of you who are reading this are thinking, "OH great. Another stupid girl trying to blog about fashion"

It's not just that though. It's me trying to build a path for my career. Recently I left small town Minnesota to go to New York. I finally saw what happens behind the scenes in the design and merchandising business.

I want in.

This is how I start. Starting a blog about life, fashion, and how to navigate through it happily.

So let me tell you about New York.

Honestly, it's not my cup of tea. The smog, the honking, the horrible smells. I could never live there, but the business that happens in the astronomical tall buildings is amazing. We visited show rooms, places where design takes place, and where people sell their designs in general.

The place that really stood out to me was Nanette Lepore. This designer is absolutely amazing. She is so in tune with her whole line and all the manufacturing takes place right in New York! The way she uses different fabrics and colors together is so creative as well. This business may be small, but the amount of work she is incorporated with is a work of art

She also just added a home line which is absolutely adorable. I can't get enough of it. One of these days I can only pray that I have the pleasure of having Nanette Lepore bedding.

While the group of fashion students I was with and I were in garment district, we came across the Fashion Walk of Fame. I've seen people freak about going to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but never seen anyone get so excited about the plates with designers on it like I have.

Fact: Betsey Johnson is probably my favorite designer. She's never afraid to be who she is. All of her designs are always so colorful and wild. I obviously had to snap a photo of her plate. Everyone should be lucky that the sidewalks were crowded otherwise there may have been pictures of me rolling around on this very plate.

I also was able to make a few purchases for myself while I was in New York.

Burberry, Ray-bans, Chanel, and Lindt truffles

Of course I had to take a picture in front of Time Square before the group and I saw Wicked.

So how did this trip open my eyes you ask. It made me realize that there is more to this world than the Midwest. There's more to style than a pair of leggings. There's more to food than meat and potatoes.

And I, Sarah Hernandez, want to show you everything I know.
